PRIMARY FUNCTION:
An exciting and rewarding position at the Corporate Research and Technology - China for Eaton Corporation, a Global, Diversified Industrial Company. Searching for a Lead Engineer in Machine Learning & Prognostics and Health Management to generate innovative ideas; identify market opportunities, evaluate and develop new technologies, develop business cases, present ideas and projects to Eaton business groups. Profound technical knowledge and a potential for business acumen is required to be successful in this position. The successful candidate will be directly
reporting to the Manager of Controls Systems & Solutions.
Primary functions for this position include:
•Create innovative product concepts/prototypes based on breakthrough technologies for electrical and industrial applications such as power distribution, energy storages, alternative power generation and distribution, Mechanical/Hydraulic components/systems, as a technical lead and as a team member.
•Identify, analyze, and validate advanced technologies in the areas of diagnosis & prognosis; intelligent system;
machine learning & advanced signal processing, inferential sensing, health monitoring/ management, complex data analytics
•Contribute to technology development projects and work with teams (local and remote resources) and external technology resources (Divisions and Universities)
•Understand the process of mapping technology solutions to market opportunities.
•Collaborate with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural globally distributed teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Limit yourself to 8-12 statements)
A. Identify, analyze, and validate core technologies in at least one of the following areas: power distribution; energy storage; alternative power generation and distribution; Mechanical/Hydraulic components/systems.
B. Work in conjunction with Eaton product and engineering divisions to successfully develop and transfer technology.
C. Support project managers to develop business cases, conduct voice-of-the-customer nterviews and collect market data.
D. Collaborate with multi-cultural distributed teams on multi-disciplinary research and product development.
E. Identify potential outside technologies from universities and research institutes (both China and overseas).
F. Execute project plans and deliver results on-budget and on-schedule.
G. Present complex technical ideas to stakeholders and senior management on a regular basis.
H. Contribute to government contract proposal preparation and technical publications.
I. Understand department and innovation center technology strategy.
J. Acquire knowledge base of products, technologies, manufacturers, and businesses to support divisional and operational activities.
K. Respond to other tasks at request from management.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
Education/Experience:
•PhD degree preferred, in Electrical/Energy/Power/Mechanical Engineering or controls &computer science related field, from top universities.
•MS degree in related field with at least 5-year experience required, from similar innovation or R&D organizations of major MNCs.
•Overseas experience (e.g., degrees, exchange research program) highly preferred.
Technical:
•Profound understanding of electrical and industrial applications such as power distribution, energy storages, alternative power generation and distribution, Mechanical/Hydraulic components/systems with hands-on experiences – required.
•Experience in at least two of the following areas: diagnosis & prognosis; intelligent system; machine learning & advanced signal processing, inferential sensing, health monitoring/
management, complex data analytics – required.
•General knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distribution – preferred.
•Strong background in system modeling & optimization – preferred.
•Knowledge of embedded systems, communication technology, systems architecture design & analysis process – preferred
•Strong technical publication and invention record – highly preferred.
Professional:
•Good English communication (oral and written) and presentation skills – required.
•Strong interpersonal and team playing skills – required.
•Advanced creative problem solving abilities – required.
•Program management experience – preferred.
•Experience in taking technologies from concepts to demonstrating product applications – highly preferred.
